Life Lately in The Brady House

I figure I better get some pictures up before the Christmas deluge (which has started) and before I turn into Scrooge (hardy har right? When am I never not Scrooge?).

Let's see, these photos are from November, which went so quickly, right?

The first three are from some Saturday where the girls were bored. I took them to Michael's bought them a boat-load of Model Magic- like enough to keep them busy for a month. It barely lasted the afternoon. It was cute when they did the dragon parade later that evening.

A little fairy art of B's.

A little fairy named Chatch,

I think this was in the way to school. Remember when it was warm enough for a light coat and not hat and mitts?

B draws ALL THE TIME. After she prataices her spelling words (in pen) she draws. Sushi dinner, draws.

Oh, I made cheese crackers - you know goldfish crackers. Fairly easy, very few ingredients. Check out Smitten Kitchen for the recipe. I am trying to buy less packaged food.. NO foods coloring, preservatives, GMOS, HFCS.

Ahhhh, this is a cave cricket. We assume the Scoops the cat brought it up for the basement. My very smart feiend Robin figured out what it is for us.

Here are the girls at the Pet Expo. We went to see bats, which are not good pets. Neither are kinkajous. But domestic skunks are, as well as hedgehogs. Who knew? The Expo also had a bunch of pet rescue organizations, I was hoping to fins a new dog. But with MIke in tow, it wasn't successful venture.

Chatch all dressed up for a ballet birthday party for a fellow ballet student.

She wasn't really grumpy and she had a good time.

I bought the girls this face sticker pad with stickers to make the faces. They did a few pages, then turned each other into canvases.

Isabel in her new heated car bed. She only leaves to eat and use the litterbox.

We made slime. Or slimy snow. THe kids LOVED IT.

Chatch's art from her art class at school.

B's art from her art class art school. The dog's name is Patrick.

This is Teddy, our new dog. She is 3 and she doesn't shed. This is probably the only reason Mike said yes to another dog. He also said I wore hime down.

Here are a couple of crazy kid photos.

Food coloring makes kids do crazy things.

B's fairy drawing.

Thanksgiving with the cousins.

Isn't Jess a good egg?

B made Charley Climbing Kitty whiskers.

These sisters are like "this." They do fight sometimes, but mostly they are great together. I really couldn't ask for more. Yeah, you are right, I can always ask for more. They could listen the first time I ask, and they could pick up after themselves.

I made this shirt for B. I painted the sleeves and the B, then used my machine to appliqué it. I made Charley one too.

I made this for B too. Cool Tulip glitter shimmer paint and a Silhouette cut stencil. Charley also got this tee too.

One more thing I made, this cute little hippo from a RicRac. All hand sewn.

Chatch in a wig. Seriously. Makes me giggle every time.

I will try to keep up with the posting. I am thinking I just need to snap a picture and post it immediately. It may help?!?!?!?

Catch up Time

I would like to say I have been extremely busy, but that isn't exactly true. I have a friend, Robin, who is very busy. Two kids, works, getting work done on the house and her husband travels every week. Or a couple others with new babies. I am not that busy, thankfully. But, I have been making things, and shuttling kids around and reading books to them, and listening to B read and emptying the dishwasher.

We've biked,

scootered,

ate hot dogs on a stick,

hosted a baby sprinkle for a couple of friends (Keli made this, how cute is it?),

made a sassy girl a dress,

celebrated my birthday, (like Charley, two fisting it with a pancake in one hand and chicken in the other)

(I was going to celebrate by eating an english muffin - B saved me for a stomach ache by eating it for me.)

ate some flourless birthday cake for breakfast,

went to the zoo, (I made Chatch's shirt)

made this "hospital gown" for B (out of Liberty of London! I was so bummed it didn't turn out as well as I hoped),

made body art,

(you know, because everyone needs some inking)

had a cute spiky caterpillar visit the house,

did some yarn weaving (we learned from a video on Creativebug)

and made bracelets.

Next up on the backlog of pictures? B and Charley go to school, Charley starts gymnastics, I made Charley a superhero costume based on her own idea and B has a birthday party. Can you believe she is going to be 7?

Kids Art

B and I used to do art ALL the time.  Every day.  And when Charley came along, I still managed to do it.  Lately, I haven't been into it.  The girls pull me in different directions, and it is hard for me to manage helping both of them with their work.  Also, their art room has been a disaster.  We tried storing some toys in there, and it ended up a big mess.  (The shelves we such a mess the girls couldn't put stuff away, even if they wanted to.)  So I picked up the toys and moved them upstairs (leaving their favorites on the one of the shelves.  I still need to move stuff around and clean out the playdoh bin, but at least I want to go in the room now.   Still, I love the art the girls do.  School and home and sushi dinner (they always drew stuff at SD.)  Here is a little sampling of B and Charley's art.

B's Art

The next few were done with blow pens.

I don't know one B did this next one, but it was on my sewing machine for about a year.

This is one of my favorites.

B doesn't just work in marker.

This is another favorite.  This is the picture B drew of Charley at Sushi Diner.
Charley hates it.  She says it is scary.
I, of course, LOVE IT! Hanging on my office wall right now.

Left is night, right is day.

Charley's Art

There isn't as much, or maybe I don't take as many pictures.  She is getting better.
As of today, she started drawing faces.  She paints better than she draws.  Just like her mom.

These are from school.  Paintings come home every day.

Charley likes to mix media.  If I leave a painting on the
easel, she'll add to it with chalk or marker.

Chatch did this at school and I LOVE IT!

Charley and I did this while B was at a frog class. (There needed to be
a distraction, because Cha Cha wanted to go
to the frog class as well - Frogs are her favorite, you know - at least at the moment.)
There are actually two more.  We used my paints.

And here is some art we all did together. Which, at first, I
didn't want to do, but I am glad I did.  The girls had a blast, and the
mess wasn't as big as I thought it would be.
(Let's hope I have the same sentiment after
we try painting like Jackson Pollack.)

Just a little bit of paint on the feet.

Both girls came up with different ways to paint their feet.
Stripes vertically and horizontally.  B had me paint the colors of the
rainbow from each toe down to her heel.

Charley's

B's

(they actually did another, with hands and feet)

And here is one of the walls in my art room.
(You'll notice the portrait of Charley as well
as the black dots Chatch did at school.)
