Life Lately in The Brady House

I figure I better get some pictures up before the Christmas deluge (which has started) and before I turn into Scrooge (hardy har right? When am I never not Scrooge?).

Let's see, these photos are from November, which went so quickly, right?

The first three are from some Saturday where the girls were bored. I took them to Michael's bought them a boat-load of Model Magic- like enough to keep them busy for a month. It barely lasted the afternoon. It was cute when they did the dragon parade later that evening.

A little fairy art of B's.

A little fairy named Chatch,

I think this was in the way to school. Remember when it was warm enough for a light coat and not hat and mitts?

B draws ALL THE TIME. After she prataices her spelling words (in pen) she draws. Sushi dinner, draws.

Oh, I made cheese crackers - you know goldfish crackers. Fairly easy, very few ingredients. Check out Smitten Kitchen for the recipe. I am trying to buy less packaged food.. NO foods coloring, preservatives, GMOS, HFCS.

Ahhhh, this is a cave cricket. We assume the Scoops the cat brought it up for the basement. My very smart feiend Robin figured out what it is for us.

Here are the girls at the Pet Expo. We went to see bats, which are not good pets. Neither are kinkajous. But domestic skunks are, as well as hedgehogs. Who knew? The Expo also had a bunch of pet rescue organizations, I was hoping to fins a new dog. But with MIke in tow, it wasn't successful venture.

Chatch all dressed up for a ballet birthday party for a fellow ballet student.

She wasn't really grumpy and she had a good time.

I bought the girls this face sticker pad with stickers to make the faces. They did a few pages, then turned each other into canvases.

Isabel in her new heated car bed. She only leaves to eat and use the litterbox.

We made slime. Or slimy snow. THe kids LOVED IT.

Chatch's art from her art class at school.

B's art from her art class art school. The dog's name is Patrick.

This is Teddy, our new dog. She is 3 and she doesn't shed. This is probably the only reason Mike said yes to another dog. He also said I wore hime down.

Here are a couple of crazy kid photos.

Food coloring makes kids do crazy things.

B's fairy drawing.

Thanksgiving with the cousins.

Isn't Jess a good egg?

B made Charley Climbing Kitty whiskers.

These sisters are like "this." They do fight sometimes, but mostly they are great together. I really couldn't ask for more. Yeah, you are right, I can always ask for more. They could listen the first time I ask, and they could pick up after themselves.

I made this shirt for B. I painted the sleeves and the B, then used my machine to appliqué it. I made Charley one too.

I made this for B too. Cool Tulip glitter shimmer paint and a Silhouette cut stencil. Charley also got this tee too.

One more thing I made, this cute little hippo from a RicRac. All hand sewn.

Chatch in a wig. Seriously. Makes me giggle every time.

I will try to keep up with the posting. I am thinking I just need to snap a picture and post it immediately. It may help?!?!?!?

Climbing Kitty

It is coming close to Halloween you know, so the kids have been talking about their costumes. For the last part of the summer, Charley has been talking about Climbing Girl and Climbing Kitty - superheroes. She first wanted to be Climbing Girl, with orange and green leggings. Then it morphed into Climbing Kitty. So, together we drew up an outfit complete with colors - because Charley is not one to trifle with and she will have a fit if you don't read her mind and who needs that, for the fourth time that day? I made the costume a bit early because Charley was invited to a super hero birthday party - so the good thing it is ready for Halloween.

I used the Lil Blue Boo Sienna 2.0 pattern and made a pattern for the cape (which I cut incorrectly and had to fix - which is why is is short). I found the mask template on the internet then shrunk it on the copier.

I like how the satin looks, but it is seriously miserable to work with - slippery and it frays. I had trouble finding a lightening bolt embroidery pattern, so I did an appliqué instead.

We got ready for the party. Put streaks in her hair, added her kitty ears.

Seriously cute right? Turns out the party was the next day. Charley was so excited, then so disappointed. I apologized profusely, then offered her chocolate milk and everything was fine.

So Chatch went to the party the next day and had a lot of fun.

Here are the kids showing their muscles.

Here is my little challenge with hair she designed herself.

I cannot remember where we went that day, maybe school? I had a lot of trouble getting so many piggy tails in her hair. When I saw she grabbed almost every clip out of the drawer, I couldn't figure out how I was going to make it work. But, I saw that pouty face (she has my number, eh?) and figured it out.

First Day of School

So, B and Charley started school in August. B started FIRST GRADE! I can't believe it. I don't know who was more nervous, B or me. And school starts early. B has to be there by 7:55. Mike wakes her up around 6:45. Let's just say, by the end of the week, we are all tired.

Breakfast of Champions?

See Charley smiling? Yeah, not going to last when she realizes she is going to Montessori without B.

B was so excited and nervous. She wore one of her favorite dresses (that I made - the Figgy's Scirocco Dress) and had her new backpack and lunchbox (with a unch inside that I fretted over, the kid eats nothing!)

Here is the little sister, in her favorite dress, which I have hidden because I just can't look at it again.

B had to bring something to school with a couple of clues. She brought a dimetrodon. A prehistoric reptile from before dinosaurs.

We walk (ok, sometimes we drive, but for the first couple of weeks we walked to and from school).

B with some of her friends from Montessori.

Another Montessori friend.

There she goes... She is so little! ANd she had a huge growth spurt this summer!

This is the sissy when she realized she had to go to school without B.

Yeah, not much better when we actually got to school.

And one last thing, I made this cute little art smock fro Charley. It is from Oliver and S's book, Little Things to Wear?

And one more of my cutie. Charley has her own style and wanted me to do her hair with color and clips.
