Monday, Snowy Monday.

We woke up to a winter wonderland.  We ate breakfast, put on snow gear and went outside to enjoy the snow while it lasts.  It may be longer than I want, it is supposed to be cold all week.

B picking up clumps of snow.  We got more than a couple inches.

Playing.  I also pulled out the sled to go down a mini hill.

Me and B.  Horrible photo, but I haven't taken one of
us together for a while.

April Snow

I cannot believe it.

April Snow Showers Bring May What? Snowmen?

This evening on James Street it is snowing.  Even I, the lover of snow, thinks it's time for more sunshine and less snow.  It would be nice to go to the park without parkas.  Ok, maybe parkas work for the park, but so do short sleeves and flip flops.  When we were in Florida, I remembered how much I love flip flops.   We'll see how much snow fell in the morning.  (A tear falls down Mike's cheek.)

Needle Felting Part II

Here are the results of my needle felting:

I made this duck as an Easter present for B.  My third piece.

The ball is the the first thing I made.  The bunny the second.
The bunny isn't put together properly, but I was in a hurry
to get it done before B woke up from a nap.

Both the pictures of the fish stink.  But the fish turned out OK
for a third attempt.  This will also be in B's Easter basket.

Next, I want to make a butterfly lady bug and maybe a turtle.  Who knows what will get done in time for Easter.  I also need to get some more roving.  I need green and blue if I want to do the butterfly and turtle.

B is Pinkalicious in Pig Tails

I wore a pony tail yesterday.  That evening B pulled the elastic out of her hair and tried to put her hair up.  Now, B's hair is pretty short, but I managed to put in some piggy tails.

She called herself "Pinkalicious".  This is from a book
of the same title.

Of course the back of B's hair didn't quite make it
into the pig tails.  Maybe by the middle of summer, B's hair
will be long enough.

Needle Felting

I received an email from Etsy that featured this cool needle felted playscape. (Sorry I tried to copy a photo over but it didn't work.)   B would like this, but it is kind of pricey - as it should be- there is a lot of work and materials involved.   I have seen needle felting before on Martha, and bought some wool roving and a foam mat and felting needle.  Well, it has languished in my craft cupboard for at least a year.

I should say needle felting is a dry felting technique where you take wool roving (wool that has been carded and prepared for spinning - looks a bit like cotton candy)place it on a thick foam piece and jab a barbed needle  in and out of the roving, shaping and bonding the wool fibers together.  You can felt the roving together to make anything, even fabric or you can bond the roving to a piece of wool, making a design on a sweater for example.

After seeing the playscape I thought maybe I should pull out my needle felting supplies, practice up and see if I can make something like it.  I checked our local knitting store to see if they had a class, they didn't.  So I bought a book instead.  Sweet Needle Felting.

Sweet Needle Felts: 25 Projects to Wear, Give & Hug

Inside there are directions to make the little animal on the front, a bangle, scarf, wallet, some really neat things.  I started practicing this morning and have already needled my finger.  If I get anything made, I will post it.

More Silly B

She put the sweats on her head all by herself.

She is so cute - I am so biased!!!

She asked me to take this after we came home from my Mom's.
She had cute little ballet flat on - these are her new
favorite shoes. She has a dress on.  Yeah!
She will only dress up when we visit my Mom.
